Decision Support: Simulating how extreme weather patterns can potentially impact share price
Client: A large energy company providing energy and metals information, as well as a source of benchmark price assessments in the physical energy markets.
The proposed simulation tool was designed to integrate data available from external sources e.g. Bureau of Meteorology online services, Australian Stock Exchange data streams, and a mathematical predictability engine to map the likelihood of weather patterns that befall the eastbound of Australia. When combined this data provides visibility, among other things, the impact on share price, impact on supply chain (ports, coalfields and rail connections), costs to and from these assets, and risk within a degree of certainty. The proposed tool was designed to enable senior members of staff and the Executive better decisions through enabled decision making software.
